Requirements: 35 Runecrafting, Having beat Rune Mysteries quest You Need: 15 Chaos Runes, Chaos Tiara/Talisman, Bowl The Start- To start the quest you speak to Rat Burgiss at the yellow circle on the map below. He will tell you that he was robbed at that some very important papers were stolen. Say you will help him and he will give you an empty folder to put the papers in. Then head up to the red circle on the map, where you will find level 32 outlaws, you must kill 5 of them.
Kill them and grab the papers they drop. You can try to read the papers but wont learn anything interesting, it just says they have a bunch of facts and figures. Use the papers on the folder to put them inside. Once the folder is full head back to Rat Burgiss and talk to him. He will take the folder from you, and almost tell you a secret. Instead he decides to instead make you send a letter to Surok Magis, a magician in the varrok library. You can read the letter but its not in in a real language. Give Surok the letter, he will read it then destroy it. Then he will tell that he knows how to turn clay into gold bars but needs some supplies. He will give you a metal wand which you need to infuse with the power of chaos runes and a diary to help you find a shortcut into the chaos altar. The Chaos Altar Shortcut - On the book cases on the east side of the room you will find the old tomb which will say something about people dissapearing near the statue of Saradomin. You dont have to take the shortcut to complete the quest though, you can use the ruins or the abyss. If you wish to take the shortcut head to the statue of sarodmin at the blue circle on the map above. Talk to Anna Jones and he will give you a bronze pickaxe (the statue has a spell guarding it from any other type) Excavate the statue and you will mine a hole in it. Then enter and you will appear in a tunnel. Head north through the tunnel until you come to a portal, enter it and you will be in the altar area.
